May 2011 - HERZING+SCHROTH at 5th CTI-Symposium in Detroit

HERZING+SCHROTH U.S.A., Inc.

5th CTI Symposium & Exhibition
Automotive Transmission and Hybrid & Electric Drives North America
Auburn Hills, MI, 17.-18. May 2011

As in past years, HERZING+SCHROTH USA, Inc attended the North American CTI Transmission Symposium. H+S also had a show booth and displayed many of the powertrain components which we currently manufacture.

The main focus of the Symposium was the discussion of which powertain systems Ford, GM and Chrysler will develop for the next generation of vehicles.
Many interesting discussions, by both the OEM”s and Powertrain suppliers, were given on a variety of systems; i.e. DCT, CVT, AT, and Hybrid.
However, after hearing all these discussions it was obvious that there is no clear direction for the development of any leading N/A system or systems. On the contrary, it appears that there is no clear direction. This lack of direction can be attributed to the bankruptcies of GM and Chrysler along with the lack of technical direction from the Federal Government.
These reasons combined with the final customer’s ride, comfort and performance expectations has lead to a very confusing future for the development of any leading powertrain system.

Chrysler is the first of the N/A domestic sources to add new automatic transmission. They have done this by purchasing the rights to build the new ZF designed 8HP RWD transmission and the EP2-9 speed FWD transmission. Ford and GM have begun by developing their own
8-speed FWD transmissions and mild hybrid systems.

Subsequently, H+S’s strategy will continue to be the development powertrain components with both the OEMS and Tier 1 suppliers.

PRESS RELEASE

CTI Symposium – July 7, 2010 – HERZING+SCHROTH, a German world leader in the design and manufacturing of net formed sheet metal engine and powertrain components announced the establishment of a sales and engineering office in Troy, Michigan.

Mr. Steffen Schroth, CEO of H+S said he was looking forward to establishing themselves in the North American market as the premier designer and manufacturer of net formed powertrain components for automatic transmissions, DCT’s, CVT’s, hybrid systems and engines. He said the continued North American redesign of more fuel efficient powertrain systems will lead to significant growth in new applications of net formed sheet metal components.

H+S is operating two facilities in Germany with approximately 500 employees and total sales of 60 million EURO. They have a more than 75 years experience in providing their customers with high sophisticated net shaped components and assemblies for the powertrain of vehicles.

June 2010 - HERZING+SCHROTH at International VDI-Congress "Transmission systems in vehicles 2010" in Friedrichshafen

In comparison to the symposium held in 2008, only 2 years later alternative drive systems have become even more important than previsously predicted.

As a bridge from fuel efficient powertrain systems / diesel to electric drives, hybrid drives will be the strongest and most effective addition to reduce CO2 in Europe for the next approx. 15 years.

Current developments, in connection with cost-effective production processes of these components will be challenges to all OEM´s as well as their suppliers

December 2007 - HERZING+SCHROTH at 6th international CTI Symposium

Transmission Symposium attracted more than 1000 participants from all over the world

In December 2007  HERZING+SCHROTH was again represented with its own booth at the 6th International CTI Symposium in Berlin.

This technical symposium is a venue for all manufacturers and suppliers of transmissions of every kind.
With approx. 1.000 participants this event was one of the biggest of its kind. All trends and opinions were put to discussion in different forums by experts from the development departments of automobile and transmission manufacturers.

Resumé:

The trend within Europe goes furthermore clearly in direction of the dual clutch transmission in addition with the general tendency of  principle discussions about hybrid - transmission and – drive-trains.
The trend in the NAFTA - market goes equally in direction of the dual clutch transmission.
